Cyclone Mandous effect: Rains today, tomorrow

Bengaluru: India Meteorological Department (IMD) disclosed that Bengaluru and other parts of Karnataka would receive light showers on Friday and heavy rains on Saturday under the influence of Cyclone Mandous.
The weather system is very likely to make its landfall on the east coast, probably between Tamil Nadu and southern Andhra Pradesh. An IMD scientist said that the cyclone would make the landfall around midnight on Friday.
“Yes. Probably on 10th (December) and some parts of south interior Karnataka are vulnerable. Even Ballari may be affected since it is likely to cross close to north Tamil Nadu near Chennai,” he said. “Once it crosses the coast, it will get weaker. Already it has weakened. On December 9, there will not be heavy rainfall.
On that day, we are expecting heavy rainfall only in coastal Tamil Nadu. On Saturday, it’ll move into the state and one or two places in south interior Karnataka may get heavy rainfall, including Bengaluru,” he added.
