Bengaluru: The city police have arrested three persons in connection with the recent shootout incident near KR Puram police station limits, Police Commissioner CH Pratap Reddy said on Saturday. The arrested persons were identified as Manoj Kumar, Jaya Prakash and Praveen, all natives of Mundlamuru village in Andhra Pradesh.
The police are currently interrogating the trio to nab the fourth accused in the case, who is currently absconding. The City Police Commissioner said that the three accused had allegedly opened fire at the Andhra Pradesh-based rowdy-sheeter Shivashankar Reddy and his associate Ashok Reddy on Thursday.
Following the incident, a case was registered at the KR Puram police station and the cops initiated an inquiry to procure background information about the persons involved in this case. Meanwhile, a special team from the Whitefield Division scanned the CCTV cameras and tracked the accused near Hoskote. Currently, the accused are being escorted to Andhra Pradesh, sources from the police told News Trail.
Police Commissioner further said that in 2011, Shiva Shankar Reddy, a resident of Thamballapalle, and his father, Jayachandra Reddy were named as accused in the murder of their neighbour Bayya Reddy, with whom they had entered into a feud.
In revenge, the relatives and accomplices of Bayya Reddy hacked Jayachandra Reddy to death and assumed that Shiva Shankar Reddy would plot revenge against them. “The gang had been keeping an eye on Shiva’s movement and came to know that he was constructing a residential apartment in Bengaluru. Deciding to kill him for good, the gang intercepted Shiva near Seegehalli while he was stepping out of his car and opened fire on him. Four bullets had hit Shiva on his shoulder and leg while his accomplice Ashok Reddy was hit on his leg,” the Police Commissioner said.
During the investigation, the city police detected nine cases filed against Shiva Shankar including six cases at Mudivedu police station and one each at Madanapalle Town, Tambalapalle and Whitefield police stations. According to sources from the Manipal hospital, both Shiva and Ashok are currently being treated and are said to be out of danger.
