Student found dead at hostel bathroom

Bengaluru: Students and management of a private engineering college in the city were horrorstruck after they found one of the students dead with his throat slit in one of the bathrooms in the hostel premises.

The jurisdictional police said that they are yet to ascertain whether it was a suicide or a murder. According to sources, the deceased student, identified as Nitin, 19, hailing from Kerala, had obtained admission into the AMC Engineering College in Bannerghatta on December 1 by choosing Computer Science as his stream.

As per the statements procured by the police, the youth had locked himself in a bathroom on Wednesday. After failing to get any response from him despite repeated knocking on the door, his classmates informed the hostel warden about it, who broke open the door only to find Nitin lying dead on the floor.

Alerted about the incident, the Bannerghatta police reached the spot and conducted an inspection. Later, the cops informed Nitin’s parents about his death. Further investigation is on.
