HDK stunner: Will dissolve JD(S) if we don’t win in 2023

Bengaluru: Former CM and JD(S) leader H.D. Kumaraswamy made a startling statement on Monday saying that the party will be dissolved if it fails to get a majority to form the next government on its own without any other party’s support in 2023.
He said in Mysuru that the party has decided to implement ‘Panchasutra’ in Karnataka if voted back to power in 2023. There was no point in continuing with the party if it does not have the blessings of the Karnataka electorate and it would be better to dissolve the party, he added.
For the first time, the party has appointed observers for each taluk to interact with local elected representatives and voters for the Legislative Council polls scheduled to happen on December 10. The party has fielded its candidates in only five constituencies with the observers along with local leaders and party functionaries meeting voters in person and seeking their support. The observers are being monitored by Kumaraswamy himself and each observer has been explained his task in the workshop held at Bidadi in Ramanagara district last month.
Kumaraswamy said the strategy being adopted for the Council polls would also be adopted in the 2023 Assembly polls in all 224 Assembly constituencies. The Council polls will be an experiment and the party will do it best to meet voters personally, he said.
He accused Chamundeshwari MLA G.T. Deve Gowda who is likely to quit the JD(S), of misleading leaders and party workers and said the MLA had already found a way to safeguard his own political interests. Deve Gowda was not a political saint and he too might have aspirations to rise in state politics. ‘’What he does is immaterial to me as my aim is only to ensure the victory of JD(S) candidates. Like other parties, we too have well-wishers and we are asking them for their support. There is nothing wrong in this as the victory of party candidates is of paramount importance”.
