NYE: DCP Baba sets up emergency ambulance, transport service

Bengaluru: Deputy Commissioner of Police CK Baba, who is known for taking up unique experiments in order to improve policing in the city, has concocted a solution to deal with the common issues faced by the police during New Year celebrations.
Every New Year’s Eve, the police control room (Dial 112) reportedly receives a considerable number of calls regarding people passing out after excessive drinking or some people stuck at the venue after the party without any accommodation to return home. In order to handle such situations, CK Baba has planned to deploy emergency ambulance services outside the restaurants and venues during the celebration on the night between December 31 and January 1.
“Anybody can avail themselves of the service by calling the control room or reaching out to the cops near the venue,” CK Baba said. “While most people drink responsibly, unfortunately, there are some who will overdo it.
The ambulance service will be set up to help people who pass out after heavy drinking or those who are stranded after the party with no transport,” he added. The DCP said that he has informed all the hospitals about the emergency service and has also written to the health department regarding the plan.
“Every person entering the pub or restaurant will have to wear a mask. However, during the check, he will have to remove the mask and show his face to the security personnel and face the CCTV camera before going inside. Details of all the people will be collected by the security personnel,” CK Baba said
