Bengaluru: After arresting five accused in a recently cracked ninemonth-old murder case, the city police arrested five more people in connection to the crime.

Probing the murder case of H Sharath, a resident of Konanakunte in the city, the police have already arrested five accused, identified as Manjunath MP, Sridhar, Venkatachalapathy, his son AV Sharath and Dhanush K. It was revealed that Venkatachalapathy was an officebearer of a Kannada organisation.

Based on information procured during the interrogation and scanning the mobile phones of the accused, the cops tracked and nabbed five more accused involved in the kidnapping and murder of H Sharath.

The deceased had allegedly borrowed money from several residents in Chikkaballapura and Yelahanka claiming he would help them get a car under a government scheme. Later, it was revealed that he had conned them, and feeling cheated, the persons approached Chalapathy, requesting his help in recovering their money. Chalapathy entrusted his son, AV Sharath, to look into it.

AV Sharath with the help of his associates, kidnapped H Sharath and tortured him for almost a week at his farmhouse in Chikkaballapura due to which the latter died. Later, the gang disposed of H Sharath’s body at Charmadi Ghat in the district and sent a message from his mobile phone to his family that he was going out of state for some days.

However, an anonymous letter had reached the police along with a video clip, which helped the cops solve the mystery behind the murder, which was not even reported at that time. Currently, 10 accused have been arrested in the case. Further investigation is underway
