For the first time in the history of Karnataka, a legislature session will be telecast live through webcasting, beginning with the winter session at Suvarna Vidhana Soudha (SVS) in Belagavi.
Legislative Council Chairman Basvaraj Horatti, reviewed the preparations for the legislature session planned from December 13 to 24 and the webcasting arrangements on Monday. Thanks to the webcasting facility, the general public can also view legislature sessions live. Horatti directed the officers to complete webcasting preparations by November 20.
Speaking to media persons at SVS after holding meetings with officers of the e-governance and public works department, he said no session has been held since 2018 at SVS and priority will be accorded to discussing North-Karnataka related issues during the session this time.
Referring to the long-pending demand for constructing legislators’ quarters in the premises of SVS, he said he will discuss this with CM Basavaraj Bommai. The legislators’ quarters are necessary since the government holds sessions every year at SVS, he opined. He also supported the demand for shifting the secretariat level offices to SVS from the state capital. Deputy Commissioner M.G. Hiremath and council secretary Mahalaxmi were present.
