Bengaluru: The youth who had fatally stabbed a girl at the Presidency University premises before attempting to kill himself is said to be recovering at a hospital in the city, police said on Wednesday.
A day after the brutal murder of Layasmitha, a first-year BTech student, the police booked the college authorities for lack of security for the students, based on a complaint filed by the mother of the deceased girl. Sources in the college said Kalyan allegedly created a fake ID card of the Presidency College and entered the premises to stab the girl, Layasmitha.
According to police sources, Pawan Kalyan stabbed the girl for allegedly rejecting his proposal. The police said Kalyan later stabbed himself in his chest and sustained severe injuries. After undergoing surgery at the Bowring Hospital, the condition of Kalyan is said to be improving.
Sources also said that Pawan had been requesting Layasmitha's parents to marry her off to him, but they did not agree to the proposal. The parents had staged a protest on Tuesday, demanding justice. However, later they gave up the stir after an assurance from the police.
