Bengaluru: In a tragic incident, a 30-year-old widow was allegedly stabbed to death supposedly for rejecting advances of a man who is said to have proclaimed his love for her.
A case has been registered at the RT Nagar Police Station against the accused, identified by the police as Sheikh Mahboob, 32, (in pic) a resident of Matadahalli here. It is revealed that the woman was living along with her children at her parents’ house after she lost her husband six year ago. The accused, who is already married, with two children, lives in a nearby house and is an autorickshaw driver.
According to police sources, Sheikh had befriended the woman with the intention of marrying her. However, when the woman got wind of his intentions, she began distancing herself, which is said to have enraged Sheikh. He went on to learn that the woman's parents were planning to get her married a second time.
On Sunday night, a furious Sheikh visited the woman to warn her that he would not let her marry someone else. As both of them entered into an argument, Sheikh whipped out a knife and stabbed the woman before fleeing from the house.
On hearing the woman's screams, neighbours rushed out and are said to have spotted the accused running away. On entering her house, they reportedly found the woman lying in a pool of blood and rushed her to a hospital, where she breathed her last. Police apprehended Sheikh on Monday on the charge of murdering the woman. In-depth investigation is underway
