Bengaluru: An alert KSRTC driver reportedly saved two girls from drowning in a tank in Tumakuru district on Sunday.

M Manjunath, attached to the Sira depot of Tumakuru division, was driving a bus on the Sira-Nagappanahalli Gate route around 2.15 pm when he was informed that two girls were drowning in the Handikunte Agrahara Lake.

On seeing the girls screaming for help, Manjunath stopped the bus, jumped it, and brought the duo to the shore. Both of them survived due to the quick act of the bus driver. After saving the girls, without wasting time, Manjunath sat behind the wheel to carry on with his duty.

Upon hearing this, V Anbukkumar, Managing Director, KSRTC, expressed his heartfelt appreciation to the driver for saving two precious lives. He described the “exemplary work as unique”. “These types of service of our driving staff are the pride and honour of our organisation. Such staffers are an asset,” he added.
