Bengaluru: Former Union minister M.Veerappa Moily has stoked a controversy by declaring that his former political secretary and former MLA, P.Vasu will get a ticket to contest in the coming Assembly polls.
A few days ago, Leader of the Opposition in the State Legislative Assembly Siddaramaiah did a similar mistake by announcing a ticket for Iqbal Ansari from Gangavathi Assembly constituency during his visit to Koppal district.
Subsequently, KPCC President D.K.Shivakumar passed an order stating no leader must promise tickets to anyone since it would be decided by the high command. Two days ago, Moily was invited by former mayor Vasu for the inauguration of a symposium.
When reporters said Vasu is being sidelined and may not be given a ticket from Chamaraja, Moily said Vasu had been in the Congress for long and none can deny him the ticket. “Take it from me, Vasu will get a ticket to contest from Chamaraja”. This has not gone down well with the rival group who have complained to Shivakumar on the announcement.
