Arrested Pak girl not a spy: Karnataka Intelligence

NT Correspondent

Bengaluru: Days after the arrest of a Pakistani girl and her husband, alleged to have been overstaying in India, the Karnataka Internal Security Division (ISD) has reported that the 19-year-old girl was not a spy and had come to the city to settle down in Bengaluru and had no other intention. In the report, it is stated that Iqra Jeewani, 19, and Mulayam Singh Yadav, 26, have no criminal backgrounds and have “no such intentions”.

The report, which cleared Iqra Jeewani, has backed her claim that she left her home country Pakistan to settle in India with Mulayam Singh Yadav whom she had married. It was revealed that Yadav and Iqra got in touch via a mobile gaming application, and fell in love.

They decided to get married and booked flight tickets from Karachi to Dubai and then to Kathmandu. They got married in Nepal last September, crossed the border and came to Patna. From there, they travelled by train to Bengaluru and started living in Bellandur Police Station limits.

The police had later arrested them. The police and FRRO officials have started the process to deport her. However, sources from police said that there is no official document or photo of their NT Correspondent marriage.
