'Give basic amenities to people of Devaraj Urs badavane'
NT Correspondent
Bengaluru: District Congress Minority Unit President, Atiq Ahmed, has demanded people of Devaraj Urs badavane, mostly comprising Dalit and minority communities, be provided with basic facilities like drinking water, transport facilities, schools and 'Anganwadi' centres. Devaraj Urs badavane is about 5 km from the city and has a population of approximately 5000.
In 2018, over 1200 houses were constructed by the Slum Development Board in collaboration with the Rajiv Gandhi Housing Corporation and were allotted by drawing tickets. However, the residents are yet to receive the right deeds. The people also complained about electricity issues in their houses.
A few days ago, concerned officials held a meeting in response to the people's request and promised to solve the problem soon. However, the district administration has not taken any action. Neither the municipal corporation nor the Slum Development Board has taken any action, they alleged.
