Bengaluru: Alleging inaction by the police, a person in the city has claimed that a police officer from Mahalakshmi Layout police station made fun of him when he approached the station to register a bicycle theft complaint. Manjunath, a resident of the city, took to his Twitter handle to express his disappointment after the police officers allegedly refused to take up his complaint.
"I went to file a complaint at the Mahalakshmi Layout police station after my bicycle was stolen from the premises of my house recently. However, I was disappointed at the behavior of the police officer," he said.
Manjunath claimed to have been made to wait for 45 minutes at the police station as the writer was not present. "When the writer retur ned I narrated my ordeal but the officer laughed at me and refused to take the complaint," he alleged in his post.
Manjunath also said that he had procured the CCTV footage of some unidentified youth stealing his bicycle from his apartment building. Despite carrying the evidence, he alleged that the police asked him not to visit the police station for silly complaints as they already have a huge number of pending cases to solve. Several netizens also expressed outrage at the behavior of the policemen.
"If this is true, then the concerned police officers must be immediately suspended," said one of the users replying to the tweet. However, there was no response from the police officers regarding the incident. Manjunath has tagged the Bengaluru Police Commissioner and other officers in his tweet.
