Belagavi: Examinations that were slated to be held on February 27 in Belagavi district have been postponed to March 3 in view of PM Narendra Modi’s visit to the city. The Department of Pre-University Education made the announcement by way of notification, adding that the move was to ensure it didn’t cause inconvenience to students.
The move will affect first year PU students whereas high school students will proceed with their exams. Meanwhile Congress MLA from Chittapur Priyank Kharge slammed the BJP for “prioritizing elections over students.”
“All government, aided and unaided pre-university colleges of Belgaum (educational) district are hereby informed through principals and nodal officers that on 27/02/2023, our country’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji is arriving in Belgaum city. In this backdrop, students who were supposed to appear for the first year PUC annual examination in Belgaum district may face difficulty in getting to their examination centre on time. Therefore, all subject examinations scheduled to be held on 27/02/2023 have been postponed. The examinations for the same are to be held on Monday, 06/03/2023,” the notification said.
“The government is playing with the future of the first PUC students by postponing their exams due to Prime Minister Modi's road show,” Kharge said, mocking the PM for discussing “Pariksha Pe Charcha” (Discussion on exams) while forcing a postponement of exams.
