Cops get creative with 'dumb ways to die' campaign
NT Correspondent
Bengaluru: Following a viral trend on social media, the Bengaluru city police have put out a creative post on their social media handles in order to educate the public about the risks that come with reckless riding on the road. In a tweet, they posted a video of a person carrying out dangerous stunts on a scooter and pointed out that the clip was among the many examples of “dumb ways to die”.
The post set netizens giggling while appreciating the department for keeping up with the Internet and staying away from making dry public announcements. In the video, the youth can be seen kneeling on his two-wheeler and performing a wheelie. He also continues to ride his vehicle in a zigzag movement as other vehicles alongside him move through cautiously.
As a portion of a song played in the background of the video, the caption reads: “Dumb ways to die”. The tune is from an Australian public campaign to promote railway safety. “If you do survive, you know we’ll be waiting for you," the police wrote on their tweet. CK Baba, Deputy Commissioner of Police, South-East division, also took to the social media site to educate citizens on road rage.
“Road rage incident involving a bike and car occurred yesterday in Mico Layout. An FIR is registered and the accused arrested. We urge all drivers to remain calm and be patient on the road. If you witness any aggressive behaviour, please call 112 or visit the nearest police station. #StopRoadRage,” he wrote on his Twitter handle.
