Bengaluru: Another woman was brutally killed by a jilted lover who later attempted to hang himself at his house in Wilson Garden Police Station limits. The accused, identified as Manoj, a resident of KP Agrahara in Bengaluru, was rescued and arrested by the jurisdictional police on Tuesday night, soon after the woman was murdered.

It is revealed that Manoj was in love with Shalini for a couple of years. However, Shalini's family arranged her marriage with someone else. Dejected over this, Manoj barged into Shalini's house on Tuesday noting that her family had gone out, and started abusing and arguing with her.

The quarrel took a violent turn when Manoj killed the woman by suffocating her with a pillow. He went to his home in KP Agrahara and tried to commit suicide. He was admitted to hospital by his family after the failed attempt. Sources said that Manoj tried to commit suicide by hanging himself at home but failed to kill himself and was rescued by his family. Following the incident, Wilson Garden police registered a case of murder and are investigating the incident.

Deputy Commissioner of Police, Bengaluru Central division, Srinivas Gowda, said that the accused is currently in hospital and after his recovery, will be taken into custody and interrogated in the case. According to sources, a preliminary police probe revealed injuries on the deceased woman's private parts, which triggered the suspicion that she may have been sexually assaulted before being killed.

However, further probe is on and the matter will be ascertained by the police after obtaining a statement from the accused. A case has been registered at the Wilson Garden Police Station and the accused will be taken into custody after he is discharged from the hospital he is undergoing treatment in, the DCP added
