Youngster drowns in lake

Bengaluru: A youngster who went for a swim with his friends at Laxmipura Lake in the city, drowned in it on Saturday. It was later revealed that he did not know how to swim. The deceased was identified by the police as Darshan, a resident of Laggere in Bengaluru.

The Nelamangala police said that the man had gone to the lake along with his friends around 10 am. As he did not know how to swim, he drowned around 10.30 am. His friends informed locals who in turn alerted the Nelamangala Fire and Emergency Services about the drowning.

Darshan's parents were away in Hassan for treatment and were informed about the incident after the personnel recovered his body around 2 pm. A case has been registered at the jurisdictional police station.
