Bengaluru: How would an aggregator app that connects farmers with buyers directly by using a quality assessment report and grading system be useful to farmers and buyers? Shivanand, a farmer from Vijayapura says, ‘The grading system will help us get a better price for the produce.’ On March 24, a Bengaluru-based startup called Ecochoice Naturals in association with the Center for Sustainable Development launched a mobile app called ‘Raitha Sahayak App,’ a mobile app that does it.

The app, which uses AI and Machine Learning technology, generates a quality assessment report within 30 seconds. Farmers from Vijaypura, Yadgir, Gulbarga, Mandya and Mysore attended the live launch event. They took part in the live demonstration, where it was found that there are three levels of grading for the farmers’ produce- Excellent, Good, and Satisfactory - based on the percentage of quality detected by the app.

Dr. Srinivas R, Founder and CEO of Ecochoice Naturals believes that the app will bring in greater transparency to the pricing system. ‘It will save the farmer and buyer the necessity to depend on any external agency for quality assessment and reduce cost,’ he added.
