Bengaluru:

In a bizarre turn of events, JD(S) legal cell on Friday wrote to the Election Commission (EC) demanding that movies, TV series, advertisement and other content featuring Kannada movie actor Kiccha Sudeep be banned until elections have been concluded. The Sandalwood on Wednesday declared that he would be campaigning for Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai and other BJP leaders in the upcoming Assembly elections.

JD(S) claimed that since Sudeep would be campaigning for the BJP, his movies would influence voters. “Since actor Sudeep is campaigning for the BJP, the advertisements, posters and other content should be taken off the air,” JD(S) told EC in a letter. Voting for the Assembly elections is set to take place on May 10. Results would be out on May 13.
