Bidar police seize Rs 1.05 crore worth silver articles ahead of Assembly polls

The Bidar police seized Rs 1.05 crore worth of undocumented silver articles at the Maharashtra border on Friday, ahead of the upcoming Assembly polls. A total of 142 kg of silver jewellery, including anklets and silver jewellery worth Rs 1.5 crore, was found in a car belonging to one Gajanana during a routine check at the check-post.

The jewellery was being transported in eight bags. An FIR has been registered against the car owner for not providing proper documents for the silver jewellery. It is suspected that the jewellery was intended to be distributed to voters before the Assembly election. The Aurad Police Station has registered a case in this regard.
