Kalaburagi:  An FIR has been lodged against JD(S) candidate from Kalaburagi North Nasir Hussain Ustad and six of his compatriots for getting into an argument with city Police Commissioner Chetan. The commissioner had been forcing Muslim street vendors to clear a busy chowk in Kalaburagi city. Chetan had received complaints of traffic congestion against the vendors and was acting on it.

At this, Nasir intervened and said that it was unfair to evict vendors as it negatively affected their livelihood, adding that stalls would be removed after that. An argument ensued but the vendors were forced to clear out anyway. After this, the JD(S) candidate staged a protest against the police action. Cases such as unlawful assembly and rioting have been slapped against the accused, among other sections.
