Mysuru: If everything goes well, the third generation of former chief minister and Congress leader Siddaramaiah’s family may enter electoral politics in the not so distant future. Dhawan Rakesh, son of late Rakesh Siddaramaiah, got a few lessons in politics from his grandfather on Tuesday when he accompanied Siddaramaiah from Bengaluru to Mysuru to witness the process of filing nomination papers.
The ‘happy’ grandfather was seen explaining to his grandson the nuances of politics and the do’s and don’ts. Dharwan seemed a bit taken back seeing a huge gathering in front of his grandfather’s house at Dattagalli in the city with people from many places arriving to meet him.
When asked about his grandson, Siddaramaiah told reporters, “Dhawan seems interested in politics. His father, the late Rakesh was not only looking after Chamundeshwari and Varuna constituencies but also the whole of Mysuru district in my absence. After his untimely demise, there was none to support me. Now, Dhawan has shown interest in politics and is being trained.
But he is just 17 years old and has still a long way to go before entering politics. As a grandfather, I feel proud teaching the basics of politics to my grandson”. Asked whether will Dhawan campaign for his grandfather, Siddaramaiah said it is left to him. Several local leaders took selfies with the budding leader.
