Woman 'jumps' from 4th floor of her apartment, dies

Bengaluru: A woman died after she allegedly jumped off from the fourth floor of an apartment in Puttenahalli here on Tuesday. The deceased has been identified as Sonu Pujari, 33, a resident of Kothanur Dinne here.

Preliminary police probe revealed that Sonu Pujari along with her husband Niranjan Pujari resided on the fourth floor of the apartment in Kothanur Dinne area. It has been revealed that Niranjan was away in Mumbai for work and was unaware of the incident.

A few neighbours informed the police that the woman was heard screaming while talking to someone over the phone around 1 am. A detailed investigation helped the police put the pieces together. Speaking to News Trail, sources from the jurisdictional police station said that the woman was alone in the apartment and went to the terrace around 5 am.

"In a few minutes we were alerted that a woman had died after falling from the apartment building. However, it is not yet ascertained whether it was an accidental death or suicide," the source said. Police conducted an inspection and informed Niranjan about his wife's death.

"Her husband is on his way to Bengaluru. We will inquire with him regarding the matter to ascertain the cause of her death," the sources added. A case has been registered at the Puttenahalli Police Station and further investigation is underway
