Bengaluru: Cricket fans are always excited whenever Indian Premier League (IPL) matches are played in the city. However, this time it seems thieves are keener than fans to enter the Chinnaswamy stadium.

Recently, BR Ramesh, Additional Commissioner of Income Tax Department, lost his mobile phone during a match at the stadium in Bengaluru. A person who had come to see the match lost his expensive bike. According to sources from the police, many complaints have been filed this year regarding thefts at the stadium premises following which the senior police officials have ordered to step up the security inside the stadium premises.

Income Tax official, BR Ramesh, said that he was entering the stadium via gate number 7 to see the match between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) held on April 17 when he found that someone had picked his mobile phone from his pocket. He approached the Cubbon Park police and filed a complaint.

An MBA student and a resident of Whitefield, Sandeep, had parked his bike near the Bowring Hospital premises before going to see the match between RCB vs Mumbai Indians on April 2. However when he returned, his bike was nowhere to be found. A complaint was filed at Cubbon Park police station.

Recently the Cubbon Park police had arrested two persons for allegedly stealing the cricket equipment including bats, pads, gloves and helmets belonging to Delhi Capital (DC) players while transporting the cricket kits to Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) from ITC Gardenia in the city
