Bengaluru residents threaten to boycott elections due to poor road maintenance

Bengaluru: Poor maintenance of roads in several localities of Bengaluru has prompted apartment residents to threaten to boycott the upcoming elections.
On Wednesday, members and some residents of Perfecta Casa Bella Apartment Owners’ Association in Nagarbhavi II Stage protested while holding their Voter ID cards. Despite repeated pleas to fix roads in their area, residents claim Minister Munirathna and the Rajarajeshwari Nagar ward officials have not heeded them.
They have cited longstanding issues with bad roads and lack of street lights, which pose a risk to children and the elderly. If their pleas continue to fall on deaf ears, residents have threatened to protest on the roads. Some residents have even vowed not to vote in the upcoming Assembly polls on May 10, citing the lack of attention given to their community's needs.
The Rajarajeshwarinagar Assembly constituency, which includes Nagarabhavi, has allegedly not maintained the road since 2007. The Karnataka State Assembly elections are scheduled for May 10, with the results being announced on May 13.
