These 3 stole vehicles to fund drug abuse

Three people including a woman allegedly involved in stealing two-wheelers to lead a luxurious life and abuse drugs have been arrested by the Malleswaram police.

Following the arrest, the police claim to have recovered two scooters and several mobile phones worth Rs 11.5 lakh from them. The sources further said that the accused would prowl on the two-wheelers parked outside the houses during the nights and would steal them by breaking their handle locks.

Similarly they would approach lonely and gullible pedestrians in the night requesting to borrow their mobile phones to make an 'urgent' call. As soon as they get a phone, they run away with it. Sources also said that the arrested woman is a girlfriend of one of the accused identified by the police as Muruga.

The two would steal two-wheelers, sell them at a lesser cost and enjoy a lavish life along with abusing drugs. "Not only the accused, but his girlfriend too was into stealing two-wheelers. The woman and her boyfriend Muruga would take turns in stealing twowheelers," an officer from the Malleswaram Police Station said.
