Rain-induced traffic snarls bring IT city to its knees
NT Correspondent
Bengaluru: The sudden downpour on Monday evening brought traffic to a halt here; with parts of it experiencing severe waterlogging.
The public had a harrowing time getting to their homes in Shanti Nagar, Majestic, Rajajinagar, and other parts of the areas over the traffic snarls caused by the rain. With vehicles parked on the road seeking shelter from the rain, while the waterlogging on the other hand posed a threat, the rest of the general public had a tough time commuting through the city.
“Thanks for the amazing infrastructure on SJP main road leading to Town Hall. Please provide free boats to the traders in your election manifesto”, said a Twitter user in his post, sarcastically attacking the ruling government for its mismanagement of the infrastructure.
Many commuters complained of getting delayed due to the traffic snarls. The IMD has predicted a drop in the temperature and light to moderate rain till May 4 in the city. The roads dug up for pipe laying and other works in a few parts of the city have hampered vehicular movement.
