Bengaluru: For mer All India Congress Committee president Rahul Gandhi on Saturday hit back at PM Narendra Modi, telling him he knew terrorism better than the PM, citing the deaths of his grandmother and father. Gandhi was responding to Modi’s claim that Congress nurtured terrorism to protect its vote bank for which had earned him a police complaint by the Grand Old Party.
The PM was referring to Congress’ opposition to ‘The Kerala Story’, which has been branded a propaganda movie which plays fast and loose with facts. “The PM talks about terrorism. I understand terrorism better than him. Terrorists have killed my family members: My grandmother and my father. So, I understand better than the PM what terrorism is and what it does,” Gandhi said.
The Congress bigwig attacked the BJP government in Karnataka over corruption and Modi disregarding the letter written to him by the KSCA president Kempanna, alleging 40 per cent commissions being demanded from them in public works. “For the last three years, BJP looted money from you. The PM has never said in his speech what he is going to do in the next five years for Karnataka.
The PM should talk about the last three years before seeking votes. He should make us understand about 40 per cent of the government but instead he makes excuses,” he said. Gandhi also emphasised Congress five “guarantees”: Rs 2,000 monthly for women “head of households”, 200 units of free electricity, Rs 3,000 monthly for unemployed graduates and Rs1,500 for diploma holders, 10 kgs of free rice for BPL card holders and free bus travel for the fairer sex.
