Bhairathi Ranagal, the second film under Shiva Rajkumar’s home banner, Geetha Pictures, was launched earlier this week in Bengaluru.

As reported exclusively by News Trail earlier in February, the film, directed by Narthan is a prequel-sequel to the director’s earlier film Mufti. The muharat of the film was held at Bande Mahakali Temple in Bengaluru in the presence of the film team and a few guests.

Elaborating on the film, Director Narthan said, “In Mufti, the character of Bhairathi Ranagal appears only postinterval. In this film, we show how this character emerged in the first place. There was no back story for this character in the first film but here, the story revolves around this character. It is about him. So, it is a prequel to Mufti. The story progresses beyond what happened in the first film. So it is also a sequel.”

Narthan is also thrilled that the film is being produced by Geetha Pictures. “Shivanna agreed to the film and it was a dream-come-true. What surprised and made me go over the moon was the suggestion that the film be made under the home banner of Geetha Pictures. I had not imagined Geetha Shivarajkumar as the producer of this film. What more can I ask for?” he said.

Shiva Rajkumar said he loved the character of Ranagal.

“It has been six years since Mufti. The character of Bhairathi Ranagal has always impressed and inspired me. Luckily, even after six years, I haven’t changed much and can carry the role. There will be new look for the character in this film since there are different timelines in this story. I loved the story by Narthan so much that I had no hesitation in producing the film under our home banner,” he said.

“The film was destined to be produced under this banner. It has taken some time. But here we are at the muharat,” Geetha Shivarajkumar said. The couple’s daughter, Niveditha Shivarajkumar was also present.
