Mysuru: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said that the people of the state have taken a historic decision by defeating the evil politics of corruption, misrule, lack of development and a divided society. Speaking at a function to “thank” the electorate of the Varuna Assembly constituency here on Saturday, he said this will be his last election but will continue in active politics till he breathes, and serve the people.
In 2013, he became the chief minister for the first time and fulfilled all promises made to the people irrespective of their caste, religion or creed. The government will launch more welfare schemes in the next five years, he said. “In 2013, I took oath as the CM on Basava Jayanti and followed his ideology in the true sense,” the CM said.
Siddaramaiah said the post of CM is not a bed of roses but only an opportunity to serve the people to improve their living. After the Congress government came to power, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said the state government cannot implement the five guarantee schemes given to the people and Karnataka would become bankrupt.
“But we have implemented all five schemes. Instead of supporting the Congress schemes that are aimed at the uplift of the poor and middle-class, the PM has made negative comments about the schemes. For this reason, the BJP was trying to create confusion among the people as they always do.”
