Bengaluru: Minister for Housing and Minorities Welfare Zameer Ahmed Khan on Monday said he will prepare a blueprint for developing the minority communities in the next five years.
“The priority will be on education and health”, he said while interacting with a delegation of Rights of Minorities, Democratic and Political Empowerment. Keeping in mind the development of minority communities in the next thirty years, a blueprint will be prepared and implemented with an action plan, he added. During the interaction, the minister also said a team will be formed to undertake a study on the work to be done at the government level and decisions for its implementation.
“We will ensure that minority children are not denied higher education and they are given required training to face competitive examinations”, he assured, adding that a separate meeting will be held by the Directorate of Minorities Welfare and Karnataka Minorities Development Corporation officials in this regard.
Stressing the importance of education, Zameer said, "Education is a powerful weapon and every phase of education must get its due importance. Plans are afoot to create awareness about the schemes among the people and also to launch health insurance for them. We aim to build a school, college, and hospital in every taluk on the Waqf properties".
The minister underscored the need for encouraging the youths to take up start-ups. The delegation submitted a memorandum seeking the overall development of the minority community and the schemes to be evolved for this. The minister promised to act on suitable steps regarding malnutrition among the minority community women and other health problems.
