Bengaluru: In a commendable act of valour, the Banasawadi police came to the aid of a woman found lying in a pool of blood on the roadside, ultimately saving her life.

The victim, identified as Nikhita (28), was promptly admitted to a hospital by compassionate officers, who also arranged for four bottles of blood for her immediate treatment.

Presently, Nikhita is under the care of female police personnel at the medical facility. Nikita's family had been estranged from their daughter following her love marriage, which had led to a complex situation.

In light of this, authorities have assigned a woman constable to provide assistance and support to Nikita during her ongoing treatment. Banaswadi police have taken two individuals into custody, including Nikita's husband, who allegedly attempted to kill her by stabbing her in a public altercation arising from a family dispute.

The incident occurred two days ago in Banaswadi when Nikita was traveling on a scooter. Her husband, Diwakar, and a relative named Pratib, have been arrested in connection with the heinous act.

Diwakar and Nikita were married for five years and have two children together. Recent family issues had strained their relationship, leading to simmering tension. Reports suggest that Diwakar had been admitted to a rehabilitation centre for a few days before returning with suspicions about his wife's behaviour.

This apparent distrust culminated in his violent attempt to end her life using a knife. Authorities have also arrested Pratib, who is believed to have aided and abetted the crime. Swift intervention of the Banasawadi police prevented a potential tragedy and ensured the victim received immediate medical attention.

The law enforcement agencies are now fully engaged in the legal proceedings to ensure justice for Nikita and hold the perpetrators accountable for their actions.
