Expect traffic jams near Hebbal flyover: BTP
NT Correspondent
Bengaluru: The city traffic police have issued advisory, informing motorists of temporary traffic congestion that is expected near the Hebbal flyover due to the construction of an additional ramp at the junction.
In a notification issued on Saturday, the Bengaluru Traffic Police stated, "An additional ramp is being constructed at the Hebbal flyover due to which the service road at Hebbal Police Station towards the city will remain closed. The entire service road traffic is being merged with the main carriageway. Hence, there is slow traffic movement towards the city. This work will continue until July 15. Commuters are advised to plan their travel accordingly. Kindly cooperate.”
The proposed flyover of 700 meters will be built at a cost of Rs 87 crore. This will add two additional lanes to the existing flyover. The Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) began work earlier this week on the stretch that starts from Esteem Mall and ends near Baptist Hospital.
The project was first planned in 2015, but due to political and other reasons, it got delayed and remained only on paper. Byatarayanapura MLA and Revenue Minister Krishna Byre Gowda confirmed that the work near the Hebbal flyover has begun.
Hebbal junction is one of the major bottlenecks in the city and this additional ramp will reduce the traffic congestion and help commuters coming from the Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) side. The construction work for an additional ramp was undertaken to ease the traffic flow on the stretch, the BTP added.
