Bengaluru: As the newly-elected Congress government led by CM Siddaramaiah pushes to present the State Budget on July 7, the All India Democratic Students’ Organisation urged him to present a pro-student budget, which includes the establishment of government engineering colleges at all the districts in the state. The student representatives across the state have planned to submit the memorandum through the district in-charge minister or the district commissioners.

They have sought a free bus pass for all the students and also to re-enforce the Vidyasiri scholarship. Demanding grants to the universities, the activists have sought bicycles for school students, laptops, and tabs for degree students.

Stressing the importance of the quality of the staterun schools and colleges, they sought basic facilities including drinking water and toilets. The memorandum further says that they demand the state government to name Raichur for setting up AIIMS and Dakshina Kannada district for the establishment of a Government Medical College.

“PU College in Wadi town, Kalaburagi district, grants to govt degree colleges and government cluster varsities as SFS, abandoning the establishments of SFS higher education institutions, repealing UVCE 2021, Act:” are some demands.
