Pune: In a troubling incident targeting Christians, the principal of DY Patil High School in Pune was physically assaulted by individuals claiming to be members of the Bajrang Dal.
The attack reportedly occurred after students recited a Christian prayer during the assembly.
Disturbing videos of the incident circulated online, showing the Hindutva group members chasing the principal, Alexander Coates Reid, while chanting religious slogans like "Har Har Mahadev."
An official of the school, speaking to Scroll, disclosed that approximately 100 men forcefully entered the school premises and physically harassed the principal. They tore his clothes and leveled false allegations against him.
The official further stated that teachers and all students are standing in support of the principal during this distressing episode. As of now, no case has been filed in connection with the incident, according to a Talegaon Police official.
This incident further underscores the growing concerns surrounding attacks and discrimination against Christians in recent years. It is crucial that PM Modi raises his voice against these acts of intolerance and ensures the safety and protection of minorities.
