Bengaluru: Social Welfare Minister and Mysuru District-In-Charge Dr H.C. Mahadevappa has accused the opposition BJP of trying to fix its Hindutva agenda to every incident.

He was speaking to reporters in Mysuru on Thursday after meeting the family members of Venugopal Nayak, 32, an active member of the Youth Brigade who was done to death by a gang of miscreants in T. Narasipur town on Sunday last.

He handed over a cheque for Rs 4.12 lakh on behalf of the Social Welfare Department. The minister said the saffron party is trying to give a communal colour to all incidents and added that the T. Narasipur incident had nothing to do with religion or politics.

There was no dispute over the celebration of Hanuman Jayanti in the town. But minor skirmishes took place during the Hanuman procession between two groups.

For no reason, BJP leaders were dragging his son into the incident by claiming that those arrested are his followers. This kind of ‘drama’ being enacted by the BJP would not last for long, he added.

Dr.Mahadevappa was accompanied by Deputy Commissioner Dr. K.V. Rajendra and Superintendent of Police Seema Latkar.
