Bengaluru: Varthur police arrested three men on Friday for assaulting a car driver alleging that he sounded a horn at them while driving in the city. The incident took place at Varthur, on WhitefieldSarjapur Road on Thursday afternoon.

Luckily, the driver had a dashcam on his car which recorded the incident and led to the arrest of the miscreants.

The victim, Ashok, a techie and a native of Ottapalam, Palakkad, was driving to his residence in Sarjapur along with two of his friends when four bikers intentionally blocked his way. Despite sounding the horn, they did not move away.

Instead, the bikers got down their two-wheelers and attacked the car passengers while hurling abuses at them. In an attempt to escape from them, Ashok reversed his vehicle and drove in the opposite direction, only to be pursued by the determined bikers.

When he tried to take the car to his friend's apartment, bikers stopped the car and attacked the young men including Ashok and broke the car windows.

The apartment security staff, who tried to stop them, were also beaten up. After the video footage of the attack was brought to the notice of the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Whitefield, S Girish, the official directed the Varthur police to register a case and start an investigation.

Three men identified as Keshavamurthy, Ravindra and Ganesh were arrested on Thursday night, said the police.

"An FIR has been registered at Varthur Police Station based on the complaint of the victim. There will be no room for such unruly behaviour or hooliganism under our watch, and offenders will be met with severe consequences ", the city police said.
