Bengaluru: The main accused in a murder case, Manu from Haradanahalli in Chamarajanagar district, and his family have vacated their house following an incident where he allegedly poured petrol on his cousin in an attempt to kill him.
The motive behind the attack stemmed from Manu's disapproval of his daughter's romantic involvement with his cousin. The incident occurred near Kaniminike Toll Plaza on Saturday, resulting in a case being registered against Manu and six others.
As news of the incident emerged, Manu and his family swiftly left the town, evading immediate consequences. The victim, Shashank, is the son of Ranganath and Prema, residents RR Nagar, Bengaluru.
Currently studying in the first year of his degree at ACS College, Shashank fell victim to his uncle's aggression.
Manu, his great-uncle from Haradanahalli in Chamarajanagar district, has been accused of committing the heinous crime, leading to the filing of a case against him and six others at Kumbalagud Police Station.
During the incident, Shashank suffered severe burns, amounting to approximately 50 per cent of his body, and was subsequently admitted to a private hospital.
The underlying cause of the attack was Shashank's affection for his cousin Lahari, Manu's daughter. The parents of the young woman vehemently opposed the relationship, and Manu had previously warned Shashank about the consequences of pursuing their forbidden love
