Techie commits suicide, harassment by husband suspected

Bengaluru, NT Bureau: A 30-year-old woman was found hanging from a ceiling fan at her husband's house in Jogupalya in the city on Monday night.

The deceased was identified by the police as Divya, a techie in Bengaluru. It was revealed that she had married a software engineer, Arvind, in 2014. The couple has two children. 

The police said that the incident came to light around 10 pm after Divya's husband found that she did not come out of her room for a long time. When there was no response from her despite knocking on the door, Arvind called her parents and broke open the door.

Following the incident, Divya's parents alleged that their daughter was harassed by her husband and his family members. Halasuru police inspected the spot and took Arvind into custody.

"The reason for the suicide has not been ascertained yet. Investigation is underway," the police said.
