SOS boxes on Bengaluru-Mysuru expressway for immediate emergency assistance
Bengaluru, NT Bureau: In a bid to enhance safety and provide immediate assistance during emergencies, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has installed Save Our Soul (SOS) boxes along the Bengaluru-Mysuru Expressway.
The strategically placed small yellow-coloured kiosks enable direct communication with local authorities, offering prompt support to commuters facing urgent situations.
The SOS boxes are equipped with solarpowered voice communication modules and GPS units, ensuring efficient and reliable communication during emergencies. In case of any distress, travelers simply need to stop by one of the SOS boxes and press the emergency button.
The system will instantly connect the person in need with the call center located on Mysuru's JLB Road. Recently, several incidents of robberies were reported on the expressway.
Furthermore, the SOS system automatically alerts nearby control rooms, ambulances, and police vehicles, enabling swift response and assistance. Each device is assigned a unique number, facilitating quick identification in times of crisis.
