Leak of video of private moments leads to tragic double suicide

Bengaluru: In Davangere, a tragic incident unfolded when two students from a private college allegedly ended their lives after a private video of them went viral on social media.

The ‘distressing’ video that was recorded two months ago on the college terrace by someone from an adjacent building emerged on various social media platforms last Friday.

The girl student, overwhelmed by the humiliation caused by the video's circulation, committed suicide on the same day it surfaced. In a heart-breaking turn of events, her male partner also took his life late on Friday night, as confirmed by the police.

The gravity of the situation deeply concerns everyone, and parents of both students have separately filed complaints with the police, seeking justice and accountability for the devastating consequences of the video's dissemination.

To address this distressing situation, District Superintendent of Police Dr K Arun assured the affected families and the public that a thorough investigation would be conducted.

He has pledged to take appropriate actions in response to this heart-wrenching tragedy.
