Newlyweds commit suicide in Devanahalli

Devanahalli: A newly-married couple allegedly committed suicide by jumping into a farm pit in Bijjawara village of Devanahalli taluk.

According to the Vijayapura police, the incident took place two day ago but the bodies were found by a few workers on Monday morning. The bodies were pulled out of the pit with the help of policemen and locals.

The deceased were identified as Ramesh, 28, and Sahana, 26, residents of Vijayapura town. It was revealed that the couple were in love with each other and had married three months ago. Ramesh was working at an electronics retail store in Devanahalli.

Police said that two days ago the couple had visited their relative in Bijjawara village but did not return to their house. The exact reason for their alleged suicide has not yet been ascertained.

A case has been registered and the police are investigating the matter.
