If the script and screenplay of Aana are any indication, it seems director Manoj P Nadalumane has not done his homework before embarking to direct this movie. The problem with Manoj is that he loses control over the artists from the beginning of the movie and never attempts to make them follow the script. All the characters in this movie compete among themselves to scream without a valid reason.

The director has completed the shooting of this movie with a minimum budget and also picturising it at a minimum number of locations —just three locations. As if that is not enough to harass the audiences, this movie has neither comedy nor songs to break the monotony.

The movie Aana is about four people who lose their livelihood due to the Covid-19 pandemic. They start with chain snatching to make ends meet. Later, they plan to kidnap Aana (Aditi Prabhudeva), the daughter of Naga Varma (Suneel Puranik). They visit Naga Varma’s palatial bungalow that is guarded by security guards and bouncers. It will be nauseating for the audiences to watch this particular scene. The kidnappers visit the bungalow in disguise of health workers to sanitise the bungalow to prevent the spread of Covid-19. They succeed in kidnapping Aana. What happens to Aana and the kidnappers is the climax of this movie.

If the cine-goers go to watch this movie based on the publicity it has received during its pre-release, they will be disappointed. At one of the promotional programmes, Aditi Prabhudeva has claimed to have lost a few kgs and put in a lot of effort for this movie. Actually, Aditi has nothing to do in this movie except appearing in three to four scenes and delivering five to six dialogues. If Aditi is serious about her career in Sandalwood, it would be prudent for her not to accept this type of a role.

It is quite surprising to see Suneel Puranik, Chairman of Karnataka Chalanachitra Academy, in this movie and also play such an incongruous character. It would be better for him to focus on his responsibilities towards Karnataka Chalanachitra Academy instead of acting in movies that neither help him nor society.

All in all, it is a movie made without a proper plan or clarity. Watch this movie if you absolutely have no other alternative to spend your leisure time and spend your hard-earned money.
