No need for me to mislead people, Press Trust of India Bommai tells Minister Reddy

Bengaluru: Former chief minister Basavaraj Bommai said there was no need for him to politicize issues by misleading people.

Reacting to Transport and Muzrai Minister Ramalinga Reddy, the BJP leader said the department’s order clearly said that four Corporations, KSRTC, BMTC, NWKRTC & NEKRTC had incurred an expenditure of Rs 250 crore towards the free ride for women in STC buses for 20 days in June.

But the government released Rs 125 crore on August 1 for all four Corporations. The former CM said the expenditure incurred by four corporations towards the free rides for women and the grants released by the government shows a deficit of 50 percent.

As the four corporations are already at a loss, a severe financial crunch is quite possible in the coming days which could affect payment of salary and maintenance of buses, he said.
