Bengaluru: A person was arrested for allegedly biting off and chewing his wife’s finger following a scuffle with her. A case of domestic violence has been registered against the accused, identified as Vijay Kumar.
Vijay and his wife Pushpa, who have been married for 23 years, were living in separate houses due to frequent fights and misunderstandings between them. While Vijay was living in Konanakunte at his house along with their son, Pushpa was staying at a rented house along with her parents.
On July 28, Vijay allegedly visited Pushpa around 4 pm and asked her to come back. However she refused and the couple got involved in a heated argument over a family matter.
The complaint filed by Pushpa stated that while in the heat of argument, an enraged Vijay allegedly bit off and chewed Pushpa's left index finger and even attempted to swallow it.
He further threatened to kill his estranged wife. Pushpa's family soon rushed to her help and took her to the hospital.
An FIR has been registered against Vijay under sections 498A (subjecting a married woman to cruelty), 325 (voluntarily causing grievous hurt), 504 (Insult intended to provoke breach of the peace), and 506 (criminal Intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code.
