Man arrested for smuggling ivory

Bengaluru, NT Bureau: RMC Yard police arrested a person on charges of smuggling ivory tusks. Police said five pieces of ivory weighing 7.42 kg were recovered from the accused.

The arrest was made on Thursday after the accused identified as Srishaila, was observed roaming around suspiciously carrying a heavy bag in the Industrial area.

Based on a tip-off by credible sources, the jurisdictional police searched his bag and recovered ivory.

A case has been registered against the accused and efforts are on to nab his accomplice who is currently on the run, police said.
