Bengaluru: Arguably the youngest author in Bengaluru, Kavyaneal Das is on his second book at 12.
He says his that will be on new-age technology and geopolitics Just a couple of years ago, this reporter had visited her friend’s home in Bengaluru.
Her son, just 10 then, was making a trail of green chillies on the dining table, neatly breaking their tails, lost in himself and humming a song. His cuteness was fascinating.
Her mother asked him, “Neal, what are you doing?” He said, “I am preparing a green wagon. Also, chillies kept in refrigerators with their tails cut, stay fresh for a long time. I have read it somewhere.”
Little did one know that within a month or so, his first book “My Mission with Valvion '' – a story of Neal - would be published (by Notion Press) claimably making him the first and youngest author in the town.
The author appears as Kavyanil on the book cover, fondly called Neal at home. Now Kavyaneal is on his second book, just at 12.
His first, “My Mission with Valvion” is about a secret mission undertaken under a secret organization called Valvion. The protagonist Neal completes that mission with the help of his colleagues and friends.
It is an edgeof-the-seat roller coaster about how Neal cracked the code at “Presler” in San Francisco, caught Volta seen in Dubai, and neutralized Dr James at the Icy Lab in Canada while making a harmful potion, hacked Intel in Egypt, defused underwater bombs in Golden Gate Bridge, and so on.
For this imagination to mix and make a story worth a read, Neal says, he watched a lot of movies, read a lot of books and used his own imagination. But all this didn’t happen suddenly.
Says the little author who is now experiencing a change in his voice at preteens, “During Covidinduced lockdown, I used to feel a bit bored. So my parents asked me to write a daily diary. Once when they saw my writings, which had stories and poems, they thought they were good enough to put on the Internet. Then I thought, why not write a book of my own imagination?”.
And the book was born, lapped up by adventure-loving kids. Encouraged by the response, Neal is now on his second. The second one will not be a sequel to the first, though the protagonist will remain the same.”
However, he promises, “I can tell you, it will be more interesting and engaging because it will be on new age technology and geopolitics.”
The only child to Madhimita Phukan and Rupak Das, senior corporate heads in Bengaluru, Kavyaneal is a student of standard seven at New Horizon Group. He is also learning martial arts at a Karate School at Bengaluru.
He recently attended Black Belt and has won several awards at State and National Level championships. Apart from reading books, Kavyneal engages himself in learning painting and plays video games in his free time.
Immensely keen in F1 Racing, Kavyaneal wants to become an F1 technology engineer, deciding on manufacturing efficient cars.
While Independence Day is round the corner, Kavyaneal feels indebted to the freedom fighters because of whom “We can breathe in free air, choose our dreams, work and have fun too.”
