Bengaluru: Home Minister Dr G Parameshwara, reacting to the latest remarks by Kannada actor Upendra, warned and said such demeaning and insulting statements will not be tolerated.

He also asked people who make such remarks to understand that no one will tolerate it and the government will also not tolerate it.

Warning of initiating legal actions against those who make such remarks, he said on Wednesday, “Those who are quoting the proverbs or usages which demean communities should refrain from making such comments. We will not tolerate this and will take legal actions”.

“I won’t tolerate this kind of nonsense”, he asserted.

Further, he also asked whether those who are making such remarks are aware that they are hurting and insulting a community and said they should not behave in a way that hurts others.

While the actor tendered an unconditional apology and the Karnataka High Court stayed two FIRs against him, the state government said it will take action.
