Ex-civil servants urge ECI to maintain sanctity of electoral process

New Delhi, NT Bureau: A group of former civil servants have written to the Election Commission of India (ECI), urging the poll body “in maintaining the sanctity of the electoral process and safeguarding democracy”.

In an open letter, they highlighted various concerns encompassing financial and influential influences, media dynamics, manipulation, voter registration, and machinery management.

They stressed the essential nature of addressing each of these concerns "to guarantee a democratic and equitable electoral process."

As state assembly elections draw near and the 2024 parliamentary election looms, they emphasised the urgency for the ECI to expedite the Electoral Bonds case to the Supreme Court.

This move, they argued, would enhance transparency in election financing and contribute to the integrity of the upcoming elections.
